How to Get Rid of Mold in Bathroom Grout (No Harsh Chemicals)
Mold in bathroom grout is not only ugly, but it's also bad for your health. I used to have a terrible mold problem in my shower grout, and I tried every chemical cleaner I could find. Nothing worked until I tried this simple natural method. In this guide, I'll show you how to get rid of mold in bathroom grout using just baking soda and vinegar.
What You'll Need
- Baking soda
- White vinegar
- An old toothbrush
- A spray bottle
Step-by-Step Guide
- Make a paste with baking soda and a little bit of water.
- Apply the paste to the moldy grout lines.
- Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Scrub the grout lines with the old toothbrush.
- Spray white vinegar on the grout lines. You'll see a fizzing reaction.
- Let it sit for another 15 minutes.
- Rinse with warm water.
For Really Bad Mold
If you have really bad mold that won't come off with baking soda and vinegar, you can use hydrogen peroxide. Just apply it to the grout lines, let it sit for 30 minutes, then scrub and rinse.
How to Prevent Mold From Coming Back
- Open the bathroom window or turn on the exhaust fan after showering
- Wipe down the shower walls after each use
- Seal your grout every 1-2 years
