How to Get Rid of Dust Mites Naturally (No Chemicals)
Dust mites are tiny bugs that live in our homes and feed on dead skin cells. They can cause allergies and asthma symptoms, especially in children. I have allergies, so I've tried every method to get rid of dust mites. In this guide, I'll show you the most effective natural methods to get rid of dust mites.
1. Wash Your Bedding Weekly
This is the most important thing you can do to get rid of dust mites. Wash your sheets, pillowcases, and blankets in hot water (at least 130°F) once a week. Hot water kills dust mites.
2. Use Dust Mite Covers
Put dust mite covers on your mattress, pillows, and box spring. These covers are made of a special fabric that prevents dust mites from getting in or out.
3. Vacuum Regularly
Vacuum your carpets, rugs, and furniture at least once a week. Use a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter to trap dust mites and their allergens.
4. Reduce Humidity
Dust mites love humid environments. Keep the humidity in your home below 50% using a dehumidifier or air conditioner.
5. Dust With a Damp Cloth
Dusting with a dry cloth just spreads dust mites around. Use a damp cloth to trap dust and dust mites.
What Doesn't Work
I tried using essential oils and sprays to get rid of dust mites, and they didn't work at all. The only methods that actually work are the ones I listed above.
