How to Remove Gum from Carpet (No Scissors Needed)
My kid got gum stuck in the carpet last week, and I panicked. I thought I was going to have to cut the gum out and ruin the carpet. But then I found this amazing method that removes gum from carpet without any scissors. It only takes 5 minutes!
What You'll Need
- Ice cubes
- A plastic bag
- A butter knife
Step-by-Step Guide
- Put a few ice cubes in the plastic bag.
- Place the bag on top of the gum and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. The ice will freeze the gum and make it hard.
- Once the gum is hard, use the butter knife to scrape it off the carpet.
- If any gum remains, repeat the process.
- Once all the gum is gone, clean the area with a little bit of warm soapy water.
What to Avoid
Never use heat to remove gum from carpet. Heat will melt the gum and make it spread, making it even harder to remove.
Pro Tip
If you don't have any ice cubes, you can use a can of compressed air. Turn the can upside down and spray the gum. The cold air will freeze the gum just like ice.
